Time Warp Town: Historic Erie Street – Bisbee, Arizona

Time Warp Town

While visiting the popular border town of Bisbee, Arizona, we ventured into an area not far from downtown that took me by surprise. The name of the street is Erie and boy, did I feel Eerie, like I had just walked into a Time-Warp Town!

We arrived on Erie Street just before sunset. The first thing that got my attention was the vibrant UFO mural painted on the side of an antique building. Everything on the street was 50s-style including the storefronts and buildings, a gas station, and automobiles. There was even a retro police car and Greyhound bus!

Parked cars lined the street but there was not one person to be found! I felt a bit creeped out by this but was more intrigued than anything.

After a quick search on my phone, I learned that I was witnessing Historic Erie Street in Lowell, Arizona (now Bisbee), an old mining town of yesteryear that has been preserved by a group of community volunteers.

What an interesting place! Next time we visit I hope to spend more time here and speak with some of the locals. I even hear there’s a trendy breakfast restaurant on Erie Street. I highly recommend this Time Warp Town!
